On Friday 31st January St Laurence in Thanet Church of England Junior Academy were presented with a Well- Being award from Headstart and Kent County Council. David Weiss from Headstart and Susan Chandler a cabinet member for Kent County Council came to present the award.

St Laurence are one of the first schools in Kent to receive this award in recognition of all that they do for pupils, parents, and staff in terms of physical and mental well-being.

The school was praised for the work that their Pastoral team (Mrs. Shepherd, Mrs. Sladden and Mrs. Duffy) does to support children and parents, the children were praised for the work that they do to support one another and in particular St Laurence House Captains, Sports Buddys and Playground Beacons.

Susan Chandler, stated, “This is a fantastic achievement and it is very clear that everybody at St Laurence works so hard to provide support for well-being in the school.” 

The award was presented to two serving Year 6 House Captains.
