St Laurence in Thanet CofE Junior Academy year 4 children had an exciting learning experience during Term 3 when they visited The Dover Museum. The children travelled to Dover by train which they thought was an extra bonus to the day!
Dover Museum’s staff were on hand to welcome the year group and introduce them to the wonderful ‘Bronze Age Boat’ exhibition! The exhibition, talk and informative video had the children amazed and very inquisitive throughout the morning session.
The highlight of the day for a lot of students was experienced in the theatre area of the Museum. A drama workshop led by Ian had the children working through all aspects of Viking life and even re-enacting their daring and gory seaborne raids!
A year 4 child said:
“I loved our battle scenes in the theatre, it was great to charge around like a Viking.”
To finish the day Graham should everyone some fascinating and mysterious Viking artefacts. The children were allowed to get hands on with the artefacts including giving the Viking Horn a blast!
