Raising Aspirations at St Laurence in Thanet
All years 5 and 6 pupils at St Laurence in Thanet had the opportunity to chat, and ask questions, to our motivational guests who included representatives from 12 different careers at Career Day
“That’s amazing! I didn’t realise there were so many careers that I would be interested in!” stated an excited year 6 pupil after attending an inspiring morning, in school, with a midwife, a local photographer, the Fire service, a Polar scientist, a local chef/restaurant owner, Thanet District Council, construction company, a local Headteacher and East Kent College.
Our guests commented on how polite, enthusiastic and well behaved all of our pupils were. A big thank you to all our visitors for making this such a successful motivational morning for our pupils. We look forward to next year’s event being even bigger and better.
Thank you for sending your positive news to us St Laurence-in-Thanet Junior Academy. What a fabulous way to inspire our young people and to give them an insight into the different career pathways available to them. We’re sure that each pupil took something valuable away from the experience and learnt something about each of the roles that they may have been unaware of previously.
We are very fortunate that organisations and companies in and around Thanet and Canterbury really make the effort to engage with our young people and it certainly makes a difference.
We can also agree, pupils at St Laurence-in-Thanet are a credit to themselves, their school and their families. They are courteous and polite.
If you would like to get involved and write a segment for our ‘Career Pathway’ feature, please email us!
