Canterbury Kids Put Through Their PACEs
Children from around Canterbury took part in a range of activities this week when the coaches from PACE teamed up with The Canterbury Academy Sports Partnership to deliver a Half Term Sports Camp.
With three days dedicated to a Soccer School and two days of Multi-sports, there really was something for everyone to enjoy.
As I arrived to pay the Camp a visit they were just finishing lunch and getting ready for a quiz. Despite my best efforts to hijack proceedings by giving them all the wrong answers, the two teams did really well. Their knowledge of the sports they’d been playing through the morning session was clearly very good.
We quickly moved through to the Sports Hall and some improvised cricket games were soon underway. The coaches explained the rules and the youngsters didn’t take long before they looked like seasoned professionals.
During a break in the game I managed to speak with two of the kids who had been attending the Camp throughout the week. Jess told me about the different sports and activities she’d been playing and Ryan explained that his favourite sport of the week was ‘Tchoukball’ – something I was convinced he’d made up just to test my spelling.
Both Jess and Ryan had really enjoyed their week and will be encouraging more of their friends to join them next time.
I would like to thank the Canterbury Academy Sports Partnership and the guys from PACE for inviting me along for the afternoon.
