A strong selection of young athletes from Thanet Athletics Club competed at the Kent Schools Track and Field Championships at the Julie Rose Stadium Ashford on Saturday 9th June 2018.

Having been selected by their respected schools, the competition is split into intermediate, junior and year 7 levels and it was a major opportunity for young athletes to show their abilities to hopefully be considered for the Kent team.

Kent schools are split into 13 geographical districts, so the competition on the day was of an exceptionally high standard, but all the athletes from Thanet Athletics Club performed on the day to the highest degree, with many athletes obtaining county standards.

Some of the highlights from the day came from Connor Neal winning a gold and bronze medal, Lilly Murray winning gold, George Seery winning gold and silver, and louis Small winning a silver medal.

Other outstanding performances from Thanet athletes saw many of them reaching the finals in their events, with most achieving personal bests for the season.

All the coaches from Thanet Athletics Club are over the moon with the performances from their athletes on the day, and again it proves that dedication and hard work from both athletes and coaches really pays dividends.

Also, a special thank you goes out to Tim, Chloe and Megan Williams, and Christine Lee who are all Thanet Athletics club officials, and gave their time and efforts freely to officiate at the competition
