From the Adventures of Charlie the Meerkat … Ellington Park and Thanet Rock Hunting

I’ve been so excited today because I am going on my first adventure. First I had to say goodbye to my Mum Vera and my children, Alfie and Amelie. Then I had to go on a boring 10 minutes drive to Ellington Park, though it wasn’t that bad because I got to see some new sights.

Finally we arrived there and I saw the train track. It was a pity that I didn’t get to go on any of the trains because they weren’t running.

I loved having a little dip inside the pond in the Nature Reserve (don’t tell anyone!) but it was a bit chilly. To make things worse, I didn’t have a towel. I soon dried in the breeze.

I was excited to look everywhere for stones hidden by Thanet Rock Hunters. I spotted an exquisite stone under a big bush. It was so mesmerising that I couldn’t get my eyes off it. I stared at the stone and saw a hairy creature with whiskers staring back at me. It was a cat’s face.
I loved the day. I had some photos taken. It was the best day in the whole wide world and I think everyone should try hunting for these gems.

Thank you.
