It proved a really Good Friday for the local Isle-of-Thanet RSPCA Centre yesterday as hundreds of visitors attended their Easter Event.
The weather was glorious, without a cloud to be seen, and the event was in full flow as I arrived at the Centre in Queensdown Road, Woodchurch. My first impression was of the tremendous support this organisation has. We are, as is frequently said, a nation of animal lovers and this was immediately evident by the number of people present.
It was clear how many businesses were supporting the charity as stalls and branded gazebos could be seen from the roadside but what really struck me was how many volunteers were on hand to help and support the hundreds of visiting families.
Everywhere I looked, any number of smiling staff could be seen mingling with the crowds and answering questions about this fantastic Centre and the work the perform there to help animals in need.
The atmosphere throughout the day was vibrant and everyone attending really seemed to be enjoying themselves. Whether they were buying items from the various stalls, taking part in the activities on offer around the site or simply enjoying some of the ample refreshments in the sunshine, there really was something for everyone to do.
After the event, Clive, the Animal Centre Manager, proudly wrote in a Facebook post…
I would like to say a really, really, heartfelt thank you to every single person that helped make our Easter event today a roaring success. After all expenses, we made a whopping £4232.07p! That’s amazing and we are so very grateful.
This is a truly impressive total and will go a long way to ensuring local animals’ needs are met at the Centre.
I would like to thank all of the staff at the Centre for inviting me along and making me feel so welcome. Educational Life are looking forward to seeing how we could work together in the future to help promote the Good News and Positive Stories from our local RSPCA Centre.
I am already looking forward to their Summer Open Day… maybe I can talk our mascot, Eddie, into coming along with me next time. I promise we’ll both behave – I wouldn’t want to end up in the Stocks again…
